Moog Music offers the Model 15 Modular Synthesizer ($29.99), Minimoog Model D Synthesizer ($19.99), Filtatron ($4.99), Theremini Editor, and Animoog ($29.99) apps as free downloads from the App Store for a limited time only.

Minimoog Free Vst Mac Arturia Minimoog V Original is an emulation of the original Moog Minimoog hardware synthesizer, with carefully recreated features for which the original instrument is so loved. Minimoog V Original contains 3 oscillators with several waveforms, the third oscillator can modulate either the first two oscillators or a filter.

  1. Freemoog is based on an adaptation of the Minimoog. The Freemoog may play a maximun of 8 notes simultaneously. It consists of 3 oscillators and modulation and can operate with a sample rate of 92kHz. The interface was created with Blender 3D, the top 3D modeling.
  2. The VK-1 Synth is an emulation of the Moog Voyager hardware synthesizer and it was first released as a rack extension for Propellerhead Reason, but it’s now available as a VST and AU plugin for Windows and MacOS.

All four apps are completely free to download from the app store. This is a limited-time offer, but there’s no info on when it will expire. However, it’s worth pointing out that, once downloaded, the apps are yours to keep forever.

Please note that you will need a compatible device that can run iOS apps, so either an iPad, an iPhone, iPod Touch, or a Mac. The apps can run standalone or (in some cases) as an AUv3 plugin in a compatible plugin host.

Let’s take a closer look at the four apps.

Minimoog Model D Synthesizer

Minimoog Model D Synthesizer is a faithful recreation of Moog’s legendary Minimoog synth. If you’re looking for authentic Moog sounds on the go, this should be your first pick.

The Model D app delivers amazing bass and lead sounds, as expected from a proper Minimoog emulation. It also adds a built-in preset manager, packed with 160 presets to help you get started.

Model 15 Modular Synthesizer

Model 15 Modular Synthesizer is a modular synth app developed by none other than Moog. Whereas Model D excels as a quick-and-easy analog bass machine, the Model 15 app is the one to choose if you enjoy spending hours building complex modular patches.

Model 15’s user interface delivers its fair share of multi-colored virtual patch cables.

As its name suggests, Model 15 emulates Moog’s famous hardware modular synthesizer. The app edition is polyphonic and takes next to zero space in your studio.

Definitely worth the download if you’re into modular synthesizers or if you’re looking to take your first step into the world of modular synthesis.

Animoog

Animoog is an oldie but still a goodie. It was Moog’s first-ever software polysynth developed exclusively for the iPad.

The instrument takes advantage of the Anisotropic Synth Engine (ASE) to deliver desktop-quality sounds on portable devices.

Unlike the Model 15 and Model D apps, the Animoog synth fully embraces the phone/tablet form factor to deliver a more hands-on experience. Since its interface is not based on hardware, it is more intuitive and fun to use on a touchscreen.

Filtatron

Filtatron is a Moog-style filter with a built-in sampler and an oscillator. Pass any sound through the filter via the line/microphone input and add some grit to your recordings.

Unfortunately, Filtatron isn’t available in the AUv3 plugin format.

Audio plugins have always tried to replicate and recreate the effects and results that the analog ones offered. The biggest battle to offer realistic results is in the case of audio synthesizers.

Modular V3 is a tool that comes as a standalone application and a as VST plugin that manages to come as close as possible to the original, real sounds.

A good emulation of the Moog synthesizer

Its interface mimics that of the Moog – a monophonic analog modular synthesizer that arguably marked the birth of electronic music. Modular V3, though a digital tool, looks as sturdy and powerful as the real Moog synthesizer.

The digital version comes with 9 oscillators, 2 LFOs, 3 filter slots, 6 envelopes, a sequencer, mixer and a lot of parameters that pitch in when it comes to creating, shaping and perfecting a sound.

Modular V3 has its knobs in a well defined and thought out structure. Everything is neatly placed and easy to spot, even though there are tens of buttons all around. It might seem a bit too much at first but practice makes perfect.

How it works

The synthesizer packs a lot of punch and uses TAE (True Analog Emulation), a technology created to reproduce analog circuits but in a way that it doesn't hog your system resources. Using of TAE ensures stability and allows Modular V3 to help you generate any sound you can imagine, from angelic-chorus to something grimy you’d put in a horror movie soundtrack.

Modular V3, unlike the analog synthesizer, comes with a very generous amount of professionally designed presets that you can use to speed things up with your tracks. Moreover, you are free to fine-tune them to get the exact effect you need and save them as your own.

In closing, Modular V3 is truly a well-designed audio tool which you can certainly use without limits to synthesize any sound.
